LaKeisha Dortch, LMSW-C CCTP

Hello

My name is LaKeisha and I am a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Michigan. My philosophy is rooted in the principle of continuous learning. In the wise words of Oprah, "It's essential to nourish your mind with thoughts and concepts that expand your horizons to new opportunities." In terms of advancing my professional development, I possess a deep passion for acquiring fresh treatment methods, therapeutic approaches, and strategies. My goal is to enhance my abilities so that I can connect with clients in various ways, recognizing that there's no universal approach that suits everyone.

Education and Career

My educational background includes degrees from Michigan State University, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Social Work, specializing in Organizational and Community Practice. I am a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional and presently contribute to the planning committee for the annual Walk to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence.

My deepest passion revolves around advocacy and I am wholeheartedly dedicated to helping individuals and communities achieve a heightened sense of well-being. As a clinical social worker with over 12 years of diverse experience, I've had the privilege of gaining expertise in various specialized areas. These include, but are not limited to crisis intervention, community collaboration, home-based assessments, planning inpatient psychiatric treatments, providing psychosocial support to both patients and caregivers, offering substance abuse treatment in correctional facilities, delivering individual and group support to victims of crime and domestic violence, and most recently, providing tailored professional counseling services to the dedicated first responders of the Detroit Fire Department.

Specialization and Approach

I specialize in providing clinical counseling interventions tailored to address mood disorders and behavioral issues in children, teenagers, young adults, and first responders. I firmly believe that the most valuable aspect of counseling lies within the therapeutic relationship. I approach each client's journey with patience, refraining from rushing the process. My approach is characterized by a warm, solution-focused, and compassionate demeanor.

Building rapport and trust takes time, and I make it a priority to get to know each client individually. I am dedicated to creating a tranquil, safe and confidential environment that encourages you to openly share your thoughts and emotions.
