Mary Hippler, MA LPC
Hello
Hi, I’m Mary! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 13 years of experience helping individuals navigate life’s complex transitions, manage stress, and reclaim their emotional well-being.
As a dedicated member of the Pediatric and Adult Behavioral Counseling (PABCounseling) team, I provide convenient, flexible daytime telehealth sessions tailored for busy adults, remote professionals, college students, and parents who need a dedicated space for themselves during the day.\
Specialized Virtual Therapy for Busy Daytime Schedules
Finding time for self-care during a hectic week can feel impossible. My daytime online counseling sessions are specifically designed to fit into your natural daily routine—whether that is during your lunch break, while the kids are at school, or between university classes.
I specialize in working with adults and adolescents (ages 12 and up) navigating the following areas:
1. Support for Mothers, Fathers & Caregivers
Parenthood and family shifts can be incredibly overwhelming. I offer a compassionate daytime space for mothers and fathers to process parenting stress, maternal mental health, relationship challenges, or the painful realities of navigating divorce, blended families, and infidelity.
2. Anxiety, Burnout & Life Transitions for Professionals & Students
As an Oakland University alumna, I love working with college students and remote professionals who are fighting burnout, perfectionism, low self-esteem, or generalized anxiety. If you are struggling with a major life change, identity question, or daily stress, we can easily connect virtually without disrupting your entire workday or class schedule.
3. Male Mental Health
Society tells men to "just handle it," but carrying chronic stress, anger, or silent depression alone is exhausting. I offer a private, direct, and zero-judgment daytime space for men to untangle work burnout, relationship strain, or the aftermath of a major life transition like divorce or loss. If you want to improve your focus, manage anxiety, or break through limiting beliefs without sacrificing your entire evening, we can get to work right from your office during a daytime virtual session.
4. Support for Parents of Autistic & Neurodivergent Children
Raising an autistic or neurodivergent child is deeply rewarding, but navigating the school system, sensory meltdowns, and daily advocacy can leave you running on empty. I provide a dedicated daytime space for parents to process their own stress, combat caregiver burnout, and learn practical co-regulation strategies. Drawing from my background in creating educational content for autism acceptance, I help you build a sustainable support system for yourself so you can confidently show up for your family.
My Therapeutic Approach
I believe compassion is the absolute cornerstone of effective therapy. My approach is highly collaborative, warm, and client centered. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model; instead, I blend evidence-based techniques to meet your exact goals.
In our virtual sessions, we may utilize:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To reframe negative thought patterns.
-
Person-Centered & Solution-Focused Therapy: To build on your natural strengths and set achievable goals.
-
Mindfulness Practices & Stress Reduction: To bring immediate calm to an overstimulated nervous system.
-
Emotionally Focused & Parent Support Interventions: To heal relational wounds and strengthen boundaries.
Clinical Education and Career
My path to counseling began with a deep fascination with human stories and a desire to provide a reliable support system for those facing life's toughest moments alone.
-
Master of Arts in Counseling: Oakland University (2012)
-
Bachelor of Arts in English & Women’s Studies: Oakland University (2002)
Over the past 13+ years, I have gathered diverse clinical experience across outpatient clinics and partial hospitalization programs (PHP). I have successfully treated everything from severe mood disorders and acute crisis situations to adolescent identity struggles and childhood emotional regulation issues.
Advocacy & Creative Work: Beyond direct clinical care, I have a strong background in advocating for client treatment authorizations with insurance companies to ensure continuity of care. I am also actively developing specialized therapeutic activity books to boost self-esteem in young children/preteens, and creating educational content to promote the social acceptance of children on the autism spectrum.
For You
Healing takes courage, and it is entirely normal to feel a wide range of emotions during the process. Some of our daytime sessions will leave you feeling deeply uplifted and energized, while others might bring up heavier, challenging emotions. Both are completely valid parts of growth.
Finding the right therapeutic chemistry is essential. If we ever find that your unique needs would be better served by a different clinical specialization, I will happily work with you to connect you to the right alternative. Your well-being and growth will always be my priority.
